Faculty of Law

Selection process

Further Information

What happens if I don't get into Law with my initial application?

You can re-apply through TISC for entry in a later year (there is no mid-year intake), for example if you:

  • are currently studying another course at UWA, or another institution, you may apply through Category C; or
  • completed a course at UWA, or another institution, you may apply through Category B.

Selection Policy

Deferring

  • You may defer for 12 months. Information on this will be contained in the offer package that you receive from the University.

The selection process for the different categories of a Law degree.

Categories

A.  Combined courses

Selection is based on TER (ATAR) score (or equivalent).

B.  Graduate entry

Selection is based on demonstrated academic achievement in post-secondary studies with particular attention given to the applicant's most recent academic performance in recognised degree programs.

C.  Non-graduate entry

Selection is based on a combination of demonstrated academic achievement in post-secondary studies and TER (ATAR) (or equivalent). Successful applicants can enrol in a four-year straight law course (LLB) or a combined course.

Selection Committee

As places are limited, both across and between the three categories, the Selection Committee cannot guarantee Category B and C applicants admission based on a set grade-point average.

The Selection Committee ranks Categories B and Category C applicants and makes selection recommendations to the University.

A course average of 70% or more is usually competitive for selection in either Category B or C.
