This workshop provides an intensive course of study on mining law in Western Australia.

It is designed to be a comprehensive review for lawyers, professionals and business people, as well as non-government organisations and government administrators working in or with mining law.

There are six sessions, with each session consisting of a lecture followed by a tutorial discussion of a problem raising the issues of law presented in the lecture. 

The workshop will consist of six half-day sessions on the following topics:

  • the framework of mining law: the constitution, ownership and land open for mining
  • allocation of mining rights
  • surrender, forfeiture and exemption practice and procedure judicial review
  • transfer and dealings: registration and tenement management
  • environmental issues
  • native title.

The workshop is limited to 36 participants. Each tutorial group will have no more than 12 people.
