ADR for Professionals Presenters

Jill Howieson is the Director of the UWA Mediation Clinic. 

An inaugural board member of the National Mediator Standards Board and a nationally accredited mediator and family dispute resolution practitioner, Jill holds degrees in English, Psychology (Hons) and an LLB (Hons) and a PhD in Law from UWA. 

Jill has conducted training workshops in mediation, negotiation and stakeholder facilitation for a variety of entities, including AIFLAM, LEADR, the University of Western Australia, Yamatjii Marlpa Aboriginal Corporation and SCALES, Murdoch University’s Legal Clinic.  Jill’s research areas include procedural justice, alternative dispute resolution and legal education and Jill works from an inter-disciplinary socio-legal perspective and conducts empirical research.

Before entering academia, Jill practised as a solicitor in the area of dispute resolution at Mallesons Stephen Jacques and smaller dispute resolution firms.  Jill has a broad range of experience in ADR processes and teaches, researches and practices in ADR.


Lisha Van Reyk is the Clinic Manager at the UWA Mediation Clinic.

Family and Workplace Mediator with a Medical Research and Pharmaceutical background. 

Lisha completed a Bachelor degree in Biochemistry before moving onto research at the Telethon Institute for Child Health Research. In 2008 she was awarded her PhD through the School of Paediatrics and Child Health at the University of Western Australia.   

A Nationally Accredited Mediator and a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner Lisa is passionate about working to improve the health of individuals through research and medicine has now moved in a parallel manner to help others resolve their confict in a non-threatening way, with the ultimate goal of increased understanding and communication for all parties involved in the dispute.
