Corporate Governance for Resources Companies

Perth High Rises

Executive Education

The aim of the workshop is to provide a working knowledge of corporate governance principles as they apply to resources companies. The short course is available not only to lawyers in the field but also to those already concerned with corporate governance - company directors, company secretaries, resource company personnel, government officials and others.

The workshop is spread over 4 days and the first two days will focus on issues common to all companies such as the principles of good corporate governance (including those applicable to ASX listed companies), directors' duties and continuous disclosure.

The second two days will explore these in more detail with particular reference to mining and oil and gas companies - for example examining common accounting, reporting and disclosure problems.

A full set of reading materials will be distributed. Plenary sessions, in the form of lectures interspersed with class discussion, will be supplemented by small-group sessions examining in greater detail concrete or topical problems in the framing or application of the law.
