When Three Heads are Better Than One!
What do combinatorial mathematicians and lawyers have in common?
The answer is - a creative solution to a tricky problem in the very popular "Negotiation and Mediation" intensive run tri-annually by the Law School.

An approach was made to the UWA Shool of Mathematics and Statistics. Stats gurus Kevin Murray and Berwin Turlach of the Statistical Consulting Group, (pictured with unit coordinator Jill Howieson), confirmed Law's fears; this was indeed a mammoth combinatorial exercise! How they went about it.
September
Our former Associate Dean, Martin Flynn has been appointed to the Magistrates Court of Western Australia.
Attorney General Jim McGinty announced the appointment on 1st September in a press release, stating, "Mr Flynn was an experienced and well-respected legal practitioner".
Martin commenced his appointment on Monday 4 September and will be based at the Central Law Courts whilst making regular circuit visits to the Geraldton Magistrates Court.
Martin was appointed as a senior lecturer within the University of Western Australia Law School in 1998 and in 2005 he became Associate Dean.
